Bakery Assistant/Event Cook

Location: Raleigh, NC

Role and Responsibilities

Bakery Assistant performs routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be cooked according to recipes. Quick and diligent and willing to improve. The bakery assistant will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as part of a team.

  • Follow prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping, fruit and other baking ingredients, etc.
  • Undertake basic baking duties
  • Decorate baked goods as specified in recipes and at direction of pastry chef
  • Prepare simple dishes such as cookies, brownies, cakes, etc.
  • Maintain clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
  • Follow bakery recipes and prepare food according to company standardsCatering Chef

Event Cook performs

  • Follow prep lists in a quick, efficient, and accurate manner
  • Label and stock ingredients on shelves so they are easily accessible to teammates
  • Follow recipes and prepare food according to company standards
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
  • Maintain clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
  • Complete your event pack out for your assigned event.
  • Check out each component of your event’s menu with the FOH event manager
  • Take instruction and assist with load in and load out duties.
  • Properly pack ingredients/ menu items to ensure proper delivery to event.
  • Complete any and all “on-premises” cooking, finishing, plating, and garnishing.
  • Maintain all health and safety standards for personnel and safe food service.
  • Be able to manage a timeline for an event from start to finish ensuring proper execution of menu chosen by the clients.
  • Work with front of house managers to stay on track, execute special requests and go with the flow!

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Catering experience or extensive experience in pastry or bakery work
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • A team player with good communications skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable
  • Must have clean driving record and reliable transportation
